Wherein One Woman Does NOT Go Gentle Into That Good Night
published by Fran SheaDoes my IQ have to be higher to understand Sci-Fi films?? As the credits rolled for Interstellar, I whispered, to myself, “whaaat???” Maybe I should have taken 100 classes to prep me? All of that technlogy and time-talk made me wish I was working on the new Zeichen Press catalog that Jen so agressively marked-up.I’LL GET TO IT. As soon as I finish rewatching Mad Men.
And while I’m (not) doing that, The Internis gallivanting about in Italy like some sort of hippie. Well, let’s just see if you have a studio to come home to. (OMG, I’M KIDDING. Please come home. And bring us souvenirs.)
Non! Je Ne Regrette Rien!
published by Fran SheaDinah always makes such a big deal about choosing paper and envelope color for a new release.
First, she has Jen print a card:
And then she does this:
She is such a taskmaster.
Gracias…
published by Fran Shea…El Niño. I know I’m supposed to be cursing Climate Change… I KNOW.
But how can I curse when meteorologists are predicting a warmer-than-usual winter??
I must embrace the phenomenon the way a mother embraces her wayward son.
IN OTHER NEWS, Jen and I chose 12 cards for the next release using darts, a cardboard cutout of Steve Buscemi, and our first-aid kit.
Here’s a teaser:And because I always plan ahead, here’s a new Father’s Day card:
Oh, YOU again.
published by Fran SheaI’m not sure if he was gently curb-stomped, or he bit into a fresh apple. Either way, he lost his front teeth.
Tradition Dictates So I Don’t Have To!
published by Fran SheaDid I even see Jen on her birthday last week??
Hmm, I don’t think so… But I still made her a card because my love for her just bubbles over and soils the stovetop with a sort of gravy that becomes crusty and has to be scraped off months later with steel wool and maybe a knife.
Whew!
That’s a lot of love!GET IT?!?! CAT-SUP???
Omg, it just doesn’t stop over here!
Put a Cat On It
published by Fran SheaDo you need to sell something? You do??
PUT A CAT ON IT.That sweatshirt is not to be worn ironically and can be yours for a mere $65.
But really, it’s not even realistic. What sort of galaxy is full of white kittens and multi-colored roses??
And where’s the wine and unicorn??
All of those adorable kittens in space DID inspire a graduation card. Don’t ask me why. DON’T ASK ME.
What’s A Gal Gotta Do??

published by Fran SheaDon’t tell Blockbuster Video, but I still have a VHS copy of Alive in my attic. I just love survival dramas. *I* survived the heat last week, it was pretty dramatic… But I ate no one, despite feeling very hungry. To celebrate, the Intern and I set some type.AND THEN I wrote/designed more cards for RSVP, deadline is TOMORROW. No big deal. Chosen card(s) just go into the Major Supermarkets.
Notorious B.I.G.
published by Fran SheaMadge The Intern and I wore our Burger King© crowns and spent the day printing.Does Madge look different??
So serious.
Zeichen Press was invited to join other Notorious Letterpress Printers and contribute to The Smallest Museum In St. Paul. Don’t pretend you’ve never thought about turning an empty firehose cabinet into a tiny museum.Action shots:
I was pretending to be a mouse with a camera — I think Madge was scared/intrigued.
The (petite) Opening Reception is August 1, from 2-4 at Workhouse Coffee Bar.
Gin & Tonic & Optimism
published by Fran SheaI’ve observed the greedy, groping limbs of an Octopus on television.
I SEE YOU, OCTOPUS.
I SEE YOUR SELF-INDULGENT, FLESH-LIKE, SUCTION-COVERED BOUGHS, BUMPING ALONG THE OCEAN FLOOR.Sea Creatures are on my mind because I’m back in Barnstable. Ah, Barnstable. How is it possible for the sunsets to always fill me with awe, the hammock to always fill me with peace, and people to always fill my belly with booze on the deck overlooking the Great Salt Marsh?IT’S A TOUGH LIFE.
